CompChem Solutions expands consultancy services

Compchem Solutions, a consultancy business based in Cambridge, offering computational chemistry services to clients in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical market, has expanded its range of services to include medicinal chemistry, CMC/process chemistry, IP information searching, ADMET project management and safety assessment.

Established in 2004, CompChem Solutions has worked with over fifty organizations in the UK and European drug discovery market. Clients have included small biotechs, national charities such as Cancer Research Technology (the commercialization arm of Cancer Research UK), and large pharmaceutical companies. Over this period, the services have been delivered by two highly experienced scientists, Dr Susan Boyd and Dr Dorica Naylor, who have experience of working for major pharmaceutical companies and leading service providers across many therapeutics areas.

Susan Boyd, the proprietor of CompChem Solutions, commented “With an ever increasing number of drug discovery & development groups choosing to outsource services under a virtual business model, we feel the time is now right to offer an expanded range of discovery and development services. By joining forces with four additional consultants we can now offer our clients continuous support from initial screening and target selection to clinical development. These services mean that our clients can access high quality scientific advice without the need to invest in interim or full-time staff, or having to deal with several different consultants for their drug discovery programmes”

The four consultants joining CompChem Solutions are Neil Walden (IP information specialist), Andrea Walmsley (CMC & medicinal chemistry), Julie Warneck (toxicology, safety assessment, project management) and Ian Matthews (medicinal & synthetic chemistry). The skills and experience of the expanded team will allow CompChem Solutions to help clients design and manage projects through the different phases of the discovery and development pipeline, and put together complete drug discovery programmes for smaller companies and groups wishing to apply for grant funding from charities such as the Wellcome Trust.
